The House Diary
Casa Walnut is our 1950s house in Southern California. We are remodeling it slowly, trying to keep the character that made us want it in the first place. The story started outside, with a few chili plants and some herbs. The garden grew into the kitchen, the kitchen grew into the table, and the table is where most of our favorite days end.
This is a house diary, a garden journal, a renovation archive, a recipe book, and a record of the people we feed here. It is written as we go, imperfect, seasonal, and lived in.
Inside you’ll find the slow renovation of a mid-century house, the kitchen we finally finished, what’s growing in the beds right now, the Sunday dinners that gather everyone around one long table, and the original 1950s furniture we are documenting piece by piece. Start anywhere. The chapters connect the way the rooms do.
